Stored grain and seed pests are insects that attack cereals, pulses and processed grain products during storage — in godowns, warehouses, silos, retail shops and home pantries. Because infestation often begins inside the kernel itself, damage can be well underway before it is visible from outside. Left unmanaged, these pests are responsible for a significant share of India's post-harvest food losses, reducing both the weight and the market grade of stored produce.
